چکیده

This letter proposes a broadcast scheme for use in ad hoc networks using variable-range transmission power. Preserving energy and ensuring a high delivery ratio of broadcast packets are crucial tasks for broadcasting in ad hoc networks. Using individual broadcast relaying nodes to dynamically vary the transmission range can help saving power and reduce interference during communication. We analyzed the performance of the proposed scheme and compared it to other prevalent broadcast schemes for wireless ad hoc networks based on common-range transmission power. key words: ad hoc network, broadcast, variable-range transmission, energy-efficient

Broadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach

While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

Energy-efficient broadcast and multicast routing in multihop ad hoc wireless networks

This paper addresses the problem of broadcasting and multicasting in large scale multihop ad hoc wireless networks. We focus on the energy-efficient broadcast routing in stationary networks and consider the case where wireless nodes can dynamically control their transmission power for each broadcast session. Minimum spanning tree (MST) has the property that the longest edge in the tree is the s...

LEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

Capacity regions for wireless ad hoc networks

We define and study capacity regions for wireless ad hoc networks with an arbitrary number of nodes and topology. These regions describe the set of achievable rate combinations between all source-destination pairs in the network under various transmission strategies, such as variable-rate transmission, single hop or multihop routing, power control and successive interference cancellation. Multi...

Numerical Analysis of IEEE 802.11 Broadcast Scheme in Multihop Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

In this paper, we study the performance of IEEE 802.11 broadcast scheme in multihop wireless networks using an analytical model. Previous works have evaluated the performance of IEEE 802.11 protocol assuming unicast communication, but there has not been an analysis considering broadcast communication. Analyzing performance of broadcast communication is important because multicast communication ...
